Prior to the attack, city mayor Vitalii Klitschko warned Kyiv residents of more than 20 Russian strike drones heading towards Kyiv. As the attack continued, he said drone debris fell on a shopping mall and a residential building in Obolon district of Kyiv. Emergency services were headed to the site, Klitschko said.

The prisoner swap Friday was the first phase of a complicated deal involving the exchange of 1,000 prisoners from each side.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said the first phase brought home 390 Ukrainians, with further releases expected over the weekend that will make it the largest swap of the war. Russia’s Defense Ministry said it received the same number from Ukraine.

The swap took place at the border with Belarus in northern Ukraine, according to a Ukrainian official who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak publicly.

The released Russians were taken to Belarus for medical treatment, the Russian Defense Ministry said.

As the freed men entered the medical facility Friday, people holding signs and photos of their relatives shouted names or brigade numbers, seeking any news of a loved one.

I worked in a flightline fire department, drove a crash truck.  I am trying to imagine what it would have been like, on a quiet day, to watch a bunch of little drones come slowly in, and blow up almost all the aircraft.  No warning, probably not a shot fired. It includes the two A-50's said to have been hit. Very, very nice work, no more(/barely any) eyes in the sky will be a harsh new reality in Moscow that they aren't used to and certainly doesn't befit the global power they pretend to be.

Although, what I don't get is why they land on top of the dish, wouldn't it be better to explode below the dish? Now the dish is protecting the hull, when they could have had the explosion hit both the hull and the dish directly.

(EDIT: The drones were said to have also carried some flammable substance, perhaps thermite, so that might be why)

That means these planes were armed and ready for a mission, most likely to deliver a massive airstrike on Ukrainian civilian infrastructure in the night 1-2 June, right before the meeting in Istambul.

Ok, the idea that it was AI controlled can be forgotten, that is human control. AI does not go below the plane, it won't do most of the things done here. It does not look up to see other explosions, before going for their own kill... So, that is actual FPV, which means.. how the FUCK did they do it? What kind of connection, did they just use low latency internet or.. how in the hell can that work. They have revealed the parts that are easy to figure out, and that had ample amount of evidence already: the way the payload was delivered but i'm baffled about the IT and communication side of things.

I wonder how this worked with regards to the drones that landed but seemingly didn't explode. I assume that they also had a remote-detonation button since we don't see any fuses like most FPV drones have of 2 wires that connect on a hit to close the circuit.

I think one of the smartest things to do is to land them on the planes (which they did with several of them) and then blow them up simultaneously to avoid detection.

The drones seem to be flown very slowly/without much input from the operators, almost as if there is a very high latency where input from operator is delayed by a lot making it hard to manoeuvre. I’m just guessing here, but is that why? Is it because they are being remote controlled from very far away causing the latency?

Plane brilliance 😜. Not just for Ukraine but for all NATO countries .Taking that amount of their big fleet out in one go seriously degrades their capacity and passes a message loud and clear that anywhere in Russia can be hit hard.
A Superbly executed operation on so many levels . Russia will now tie itself up in security checks on heavy vehicles in it's road network that slows down all goods and transportation as well as tying up a lot of resources. That's an ongoing bonus for months ahead without Ukraine lifting another finger.
